Writing Scheduling 

This subject team uses ConexED to complete all of the following on the same platform:

  • Schedule an appointment to reserve your time slot to meet with your tutor at a time that is convenient for you.
  • Message your tutor directly to ask a quick question in a chat box.
  • Email your tutor through the app.
  • Click the ‘Knock on Door’ button to see if your tutor can fit you in between their previously scheduled appointments.

Cancellation Policy: In order to ensure appointment availability for all students, cancellations must be completed online 24 hours in advance of the appointment. Cancellations can also be made by contacting us before your appointment through the team email listed above on this page. If a student misses two appointments, their account will be temporarily suspended. Students can petition to make appointments again by following the directions outlined in the email informing them of their account ban.

Required Preparation: In order to help you in the most effective way possible, please attach the following materials included in one document in your scheduling form so your tutor can review it before your scheduled appointment.

  • The assignment sheet, including the name of the assignment and full course name (e.g. ENGL-041-T002)
  • The rubric for the assignment (if provided)
  • A copy of the draft (not required if you are working on brainstorming or outlining, or if you do not need your work reviewed)
  • Other relevant materials or information pertaining to the assignment
  • Specific questions or concerns you are looking for feedback on

If you are unable to attach the materials in one document on the scheduling form, please feel free to email them prior to your appointment to virtualwriting@byu.edu.

You should also come prepared to the appointment with access to those same documents.

 

If you are scheduling an Asynchronous Appointment: You will not be attending the appointment at the same time as the tutor. You will simply attach your work here prior to the appointment. MAKE SURE to list the specific questions you have about your assignment either in the blank in the scheduling form or in the document you attach so that your tutor knows what to look for and they can answer your questions. During your scheduled time, your tutor will look over your work on their own and give you feedback (in the form of notes and a video recording), which they will then forward to you afterwards to review in your own time.
